Helena is a third-year student studying for her Bachelor of Fine Arts at RMIT University, specialising in oil painting. Drawing from personal experiences and photographs, Helena's work delves into the emotional depth of family connections, reflecting on the fragile nature of memory. Through the use of layered compositions and subtle detail, Helena aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia and introspection, inviting viewers to connect with their own personal recollections and relationships. Page One Gallery is honoured to be representing Helena and her artwork, Snowbound Memories, in her first exhibition event this Saturday on January 18 2025.

Helena’s, Snowbound Memories, exemplifies this approach—capturing the complex interplay of memory, childhood, and loss. The painting features a fleeting moment of connection between a father and daughter walking through the snow, a scene that balances clarity and impermanence. The father’s figure gradually fades into abstraction, symbolizing the elusive nature of memory and its gradual erosion over time. The daughter’s pink mitten serves as a poignant anchor to the past, representing warmth, innocence, and a sense of comfort amidst the coldness of grief. Through this painting, Helena explores the enduring echoes of love and loss, reflecting on how these experiences shape one’s identity.

Helena's work serves as both a tribute to and a reflection on the moments that define us. Through their emotive and thought-provoking paintings, they offer viewers an opportunity to reflect on their own experiences of love, memory, and the passage of time.
